These prints of the body and it’s energetic imprints, messages, meridians, chakras, guardians, messages, longings, prayers are a result of many consecutive years of hands on research in the fields of osteopathy, massage, laying of flowers and stones, herbalism, hands on work, medicine formulation, diagnostics and a commitment to making art as part of a greater healing cosmology. They are part of my art practice that I take on the road when living in remote places. The original collaged works that these prints emerged from were made during a long winter living in a house by the sea in Mexico. The wind blew them down, the sun shone on them, guests would come for tea and wonder what these rainbow bodies were on the wall. I have sung to them, prayed over them, brushed them with fragrant herbs and left little offerings at their feet. I carried them with me through the chaos of the airport in Mexico City, careful not to damage them. Eventually they made it back to NY where they were scanned in the map conservation department of Cornell University by a kind colleague. The hope with these works is that they can function as medicine pieces in homes, clinics, and anywhere that they end up. Beauty is important daily medicine. My painting career has always made it so that none of my friends could afford my work, and I have done my best to make these affordable/attainable. The edition will be kept open for the time being. They are signed. Each body was made with a different energetic imprint and intention. In the hopes of not limiting the ways that they may be of service to you, I am keeping those intentions a secret. Choose the one that calls to you the most and work with it in any way you like. They work alone and together. Different spaces call for different medicine bodies. May these medicine bodies bring your space some sturdy magic and joy.
